Dr. Cottiero received his MD degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency at New England Medical Center in Boston, where he also completed a clinical fellowship in nephrology and a clinical research fellowship in nephrology. Dr Cottiero is board certified in internal medicine with a subspecialty in nephrology and is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Internal Medicine, and Nephrology Subspecialty American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Hypertension.

Dr. Cottiero chose Nephrology because he has always been interested in the biochemistry of the human body. As a Nephrologist, we are constantly challenged to maintain normal body chemistry in our patients with kidney disease.

He has been a practicing Nephrologist for over 30 years, previously in Providence Rhode Island. He was a clinical associate professor of medicine at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University, and was chief of nephrology education, dialysis, and research at Roger Williams Medical Center and the president of Hypertension and Nephrology, Inc. in Providence.

Dr. Cottiero has been coming to Las Vegas for 20 years to enjoy the climate and outdoor activities. He is excited to work with the skilled physicians at KSOSN to provide excellent Nephrology and Hypertension care. He believes that it is important to listen carefully to patients and address their concerns with compassion and empathy. He has over 32 years’ experience in providing Nephrology and Hypertension consultation. His research interests include delaying the progression of kidney disease in non–insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus and the optimal management of hypertension.

He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation, and the International Society of Nephrology. He is also an avid golfer.
