BIO

Dr. Chidi Okafor has always had a keen interest in physiology, the study of how the human body works, and since nephrology is the epitome of physiology, it is no wonder Dr. Okafor chose to specialize in this area.

Physiology plays an integral role in the daily diagnosis and management of renal disorders, something Dr. Okafor has dedicated his career to. Dr. Okafor holds a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Texas in Houston. There, his area of concentration was Disease Control/Epidemiology which has greatly influenced his preventive approach to renal care. He has conducted basic sciences and clinical research at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, as well as the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, which resulted in peer reviewed publications in multiple scientific journals. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology and is a designated specialist in Clinical Hypertension. Dr. Okafor has also been listed as a top doctor in his field both locally and nationally including Castle Connolly’s America’s Top Doctors and Top Doctors in Las Vegas & Southern Nevada by Health Care Quarterly and Desert Companion Magazines.

Dr. Okafor firmly believes that focusing on patients’ quality of life is critical. Therefore, he works diligently to empower and encourage his patients to be active participants in their health care. He is an advocate of an integrated approach to renal care and involves the referring physician throughout the entire process of kidney disease management.
