Luis graduated from UNLV in 2023 with a master’s degree in nursing. He is a board-certified family nurse practitioner accredited through the ANCC. He has worked as a floor nurse and charge nurse at Mountain View Hospital for five and half years and worked with a variety of patients such as nephrology and cardiology. He is a part of the American Nurses Association, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

He is a second-generation nurse practitioner. His late father worked as a nurse practitioner for many years and was one of the main influencers in his decision to pursue further nursing career. He chose a career in nephrology because it synergized a lot with his background nursing experiences, and it appealed to him given the complexity of the specialty. He collaborated in the care of kidney disease patients alongside many nephrologists and learned a great deal in the management of chronic and acute conditions such as CKD, hypertension, diabetes, kidney stones, and even pyelonephritis to name a few.

Luis was born in Las Vegas and has lived here for most of his life. He chose to work with KSOSN due to the providers that he worked with, as many of the nephrologist that he worked with in the hospital have always been very personable and excellent teachers of the craft. He wanted to find an area that would match a similar characteristic and would help him grow into an excellent provider. He believes that KSOSN has a list of phenomenal, experienced, and above all personable providers that encourage patients in choosing to continue to follow care with us. These important qualities also help in encouraging PCP around the valley to refer their patients and trust in our management of their needs.

He believes in being an advocate for his patients and looking for the best course of action. Fundamentally as a nurse he is there to hear about any issue and will establish a care plan that is feasible and appropriate for his patient. He strives to be transparent with his patients, and prioritizes providing accurate and non-misleading information. He finds it very important for patients to understand that CKD is not an end all illness and with proper management and care patients can improve in their kidney function.

Luis comes from a Hispanic heritage as a an individual of Salvadoran/Nicaraguan descent. He is bilingual speaking both English and Spanish. His hobbies include watching car shows, sight-seeing on scenic drives, listening to a variety of music from classical to rock, and watching movies.
